🪨 Between a ROCK and a Hard Place! 🪨

Today we learned about “hard problems” versus “soft problems”. Students were each given a ball of playdough and discussed how we sometimes face challenging situations- BUT, we can control them! We can bend, break, move, create, compromise, or change the problem: based on our actions!

Students also got to pass around a giant rock- This represents hard problems! Hard problems are final. There is no changing them, no matter what we do. Death, divorce, friends moving away, loss, illness, or others’ problems all fall under this category. Students shared some of their hard problems by writing them on the rock.

How we perceive a problem greatly dictates how or if we can solve it.
Students were challenged to identify what type of problems they are spending their time and energy on. Is it worth the struggle? Is it helping you grow, or hindering you? Is it causing mental health problems for you? Do you know what happens to playdough (soft problems) if you ignore them long enough? THEY GET HARD!

Let’s face those problems, accept them, and focus on the things we CAN control and improve! Don’t let it pile up till you’re facing a mountain that you can’t climb. Let’s acknowledge that others go through hard times, and BE KIND! We put the rock on the playground as a reminder. 🖤

You don’t have to deal with problems alone! We are here for you! Happy weekend!!
