In our continuing effort to remain innovative and cutting edge, the Kirby School District is exploring the possibility of moving to a four day school week for the 2019-2020 school year. The times would be approximately 8-4:30. Schools in surrounding states have adopted this practice, and many have been contacted for feedback concerning the pros and cons attached to a four day school week from our administration team. While all the schools contacted stated their patrons were overwhelmingly in favor of the four day school week, research has shown that each community has their own unique factors to consider. The administration, staff, and school board have met and agreed to ask patrons for their input and concerns, before we move forward. A digital survey will be available via computer at parent teacher conferences on October 18, 2018.
If you have questions concerning the schools that have been contacted and how the four day school week has worked for their districts, please contact Jason Burns at 870 398-4213 ext 2.
If you have questions concerning elementary students, please contact Dolores Cowart 870 398-4213 ext 1.
Thank you for your time, input and consideration!
