We would like to honor Junior Tyler White for being voted on by teachers and staff to represent Kirby High School as Arkansas Boys State delegate.
Arkansas Boys State is an immersive program in civics education designed for high school juniors. Since 1940, the week-long camp has transformed the lives of young men throughout our state and beyond. These young men have gone on to become incredible leaders, including President Bill Clinton, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and Senator Tom Cotton — just to name a few.
Unfortunately, like many other events, Arkansas Boys State has been cancelled for 2020. Regardless, we are proud of Tyler for being chosen and willing to participate in the week long

On Monday, March 30 Kirby School District will be operating a food pickup drive thru beginning at 11:00 am - 3:00 pm for food bags at the school. We will also be running bus routes to delivery food bags at 12:00 pm. We will have bags filled with four days worth of breakfast and lunch food, milk, and juice. The bags are for anyone under the age of 18 years old. You do not have to be a student currently attending Kirby School District. If you want a food bag, please choose either the drive thru at school or be at your normal bus route stop between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm. We will be running all normal bus routes. We will ensure that the food, snacks, milk and juice are properly handled with staff who will be wearing safety gloves and masks. Our plan is to operate the food delivery plan for the next few Mondays until we hear of a decision regarding an extension of school closure or a return back to school.
If anyone needs additional food or meals, our food pantry is still operating strong. If you need assistance, please call Nurse Alissa Kelley at 870-223-2711 or Jaime Johnson at 870-279-2194.
Regarding AMI work, students should be working on AMI days 5-10 either by hard copy or google classroom assignments. We will have an updated plan in the middle to end of the week regarding the future AMI assignments and food. We know the COVID-19 virus has caused many interruptions into everyone's daily lives and we are doing the best we can to ensure our students are well cared for. We are missing all of our students and hope for the best in return to normalcy. Please take precautions in this this time of uncertainty regarding the virus. We want to see everyone healthy when we come back.
Sincerely,
Kirby School District.

Hello, this is Pike Palmer superintendent of the Kirby School District. As you may have heard, Governor Asa Hutchinson announced today that all Arkansas public schools will remain closed for onsite instruction through April 17 due to the increasing spread of COVID-19 across the state. The decision to close schools will be re-evaluated in a few weeks based on public health conditions at that time.
Digital instruction and AMI packets will resume March 30 after Spring Break.
We ask that you please fill out the technology survey found on our school website at www.kirbytrojans.net or Kirby School District Facebook page. This is very important as we plan and prepare to move forward in the upcoming weeks with our curriculum and instruction.
We will send out another email beginning of next week detailing our plan for the upcoming weeks regarding providing students and families with food, providing technology resources such as chromebooks, and AMI packets for those who do not have Internet accessibility.
These are unprecedented circumstances but rest assured we will do everything in our power to assist your family and further your childs education. Thank you for your continued efforts to support us in these difficult days. We are Trojan Strong!!!

The Student Internet Access Survey can be found on our Facebook page or by clicking "Explore" at the top of this page.

From the counselor's office:
The April 4 ACT has been cancelled. Those registered can switch their dates to June or July for $30, but you will be refunded in 3-5 days.
The Senior Showcase on April 16 has been cancelled. Because of our ever increasing crunch time, it's unlikely that it will be rescheduled. Scholarships will be announced at graduation.

For those who give or have given to the food pantry throughout the year, today was a reminder of how blessed we are with your donations. Along with the 50+ bags Taylor and I packed, I also sent out over 20 food boxes to Kirby families. Without your donations, we could never do this. Our food pantry is still stocked! If you didn’t get a bag or box and need one, please let me know. We have so many uncertainties coming up and lack of food shouldn’t be one of them. A few parents told me they were “embarrassed to ask” and I reassured them that this is exactly why we started the food pantry at school! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to those who give. #Trojannation

Virtual Arkansas students should check their kirbytrojans.net email for instructions and tips on how to access coursework from home. You have an email from Mrs. Jaime.
If you can't remember how to access your kirbytrojans.net email, please message Mrs.Jaime or Mrs.Jessica for help.

If you choose not to send your child to school on Monday, please stop by between 12:00 pm and 4:30 pm to pick up your child's AMI packet and or Chromebook.
Kirby ABC and Kindergarten registration has been postponed for now. A later date will be announced as soon as we get back to normalcy.
